Hello, I am one of the newest contributors to PetKnows! My name is Carrie and I wanted to post an introduction so everyone will get to know me and my dream to become a proud parent to a very special Cavalier King Charles Spaniel this Christmas!
Here is a little background information about me and my love for dogs:
Growing up, my family always had dogs! Currently, we have Hobie, a 12 year old Golden Retriever who has the cutest personality and birth mark on his tongue. Hobie is very popular in my parent’s neighborhood! When my Dad attends a community event his name tag reads “Hobie’s Dad” where everyone else’s “Hi My Name is…” sticker says their actual name! Prior to Hobie, we had another Golden Retriever named Mailey – he was also a cool dog! Mailey was a young pup when I was born and was like my watch dog growing up. When I learned to climb stairs as a toddler, Mailey was always one step behind me putting his snout under my bottom if I needed a little extra leverage to get to the next stair. He was always close by keeping an eye out for me – especially when babysitters would take me for a walk outside in my stroller! He was always by my side and I loved growing up with such a great dog!
The other dog we had growing up was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! Her name was Hailey and she was a smart, loving and beautiful dog! Hailey would sing, open her own Christmas presents and dry herself off on a towel after a bath. When I was away at college and someone asked, “Where’s Carrie?” Hailey would run into my bedroom and sniff around for the slightest sign that I may be there! She is the reason I want another “Hailey Dog.”
As an adult I have never had a dog of my own and I miss the love and warmth dogs have to offer! I have been talking about getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for months now and have been begging my Fiancé for one for Christmas this year. Actually, I have stopped the begging and started stating that we are getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel boy puppy this December and he will be called Bennigan. I show my Fiancé pictures and YouTube video’s of the breed and he always watches with a smile on his face – I know he wants one too! It is still a discussion, I am still not so subtlety dropping hints (this has become quite comical) and I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a tri-colored puppy boy under my Christmas tree this year!
I look forward to updating you all on my quest for my dream doggy, Bennigan!

Hi Carrie
I hope you get your Christmas present. Already having owned a Cavalier you know what special dogs they are. I have two myself.
Please be very careful from whom you purchase your Cavalier. There are lot of unscrupulous breeders out there wanting to make a quick buck and not caring about the health of the puppies they sell. As you know, Cavaliers have a lot of serious health issues. But by purchasing your new Cavalier from a reputable, health testing and responsible breeder you have a much better chance of having your Cavalier in your life for a really long time.
They’re so cute….your fiance won’t be able to resist
