This year marks the 10th annual Iams Home 4 The Holidays pet adoption drive and they have set the goal higher than ever - find loving homes for more than 1 million orphaned cats and dogs. That’s quite a goal but there is no doubt it can be done. The program began in 1999 when the Helen Woodward Animal Center teamed up with San Diego shelters to find homes for more than 2,000 orphaned pets. Each year since then the adoption drive has grown with more and more shelters becoming involved and pets being adopted. This year there are more than 3,000 shelters across the USA, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico actively helping to make the program a success.
Iams Home 4 The Holidays runs from October 1, 2008 through January 5, 2009. If you’re interested in becoming involved you can register on their website, as well as find participating shelters in your area. What better gift for the holidays than giving a pet a new home!
