The FURminator – PetKnows Tested and Recommended

I had heard a lot of talk about the FURminator but always chalked it up to hype. Mosby sheds more than just about any dog that I have ever met…it’s like he has at least 5 undercoats, each a different color so that everything in my house is continually covered in dog hair.

So when we were recently asked to try out the FURminator, I went in very skeptical. I came out a believer. I have no idea how those little metal teeth pull out the undercoat that effectively, but they did. I have tried countless other brushes and spent hours brushing this dog…this is the first brush that got out that much hair in such a short amount of time. And Mosby’s reaction? He seemed to think he was getting a good back scratch and kept coming back for more!

We were also sent samples of the FURminator deShedding Shampoo, Lotion, Waterless Shampoo, and dog treats. The shampoo and lotion, enhanced with Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids, definitely smelled good. As for effectiveness, I think I need to give them a bit more time. My only complaint with them is that you need to leave the shampoo on the dog’s coat for 5-10 minutes…Mosby doesn’t like baths very much as it is, so trying to get him to just hang out while the shampoo has a chance to do its thing is not very practical.

Mosby liked the deShedding treats, but as with the shampoo and lotion, I have my doubts that they are making much of a difference. If I see an amazing difference in another month, I’ll let you know… Never the less, the brush is worth every penny. And in the event that it just doesn’t work for your dog or cat, there is a 30-day money back guarantee.

As for the cat brushes, J-Coll uses the FURminator on Darby and Lilly and swears by it. She’ll post pictures of her results soon.

Oh, yes! The Furminator! We love it at home and at the shelter. Every critter in our care that has fur has had at least one date with the Furminator - and it works great for them all - dogs, cats, rabbits… LOVE IT!! :)

FURminator pictures to come early next week. I plan to have a major de-FURring session with Mr. Darby this weekend. Stay tuned!

That second pic looks like the pile of dog hair I collect after taking a Swiffer across my floor. Maybe I need the FURminator … :)
